The trick on quality is, the ratchet when you use it u need to hold the ratchet pin so it doesn’t skip gears, but that’s super easy and other then that. It’s an absolutely great tool! Oh wait, for the manufacturer, better (stronger) magnets would be a nice upgrade. These magnets don’t stick very well.

Customer Review: My first encounter with disc brakes was when I was a senior in high school in 1973. All of these years I would use a pad and a C clamp sometimes 2C clamps to collapse the caliper. Now some 53 years later, I found this little tool . I was skeptical at first when ordering because it was so inexpensive, but to my surprise, I can’t believe how well it worked. I would highly recommend this to everyone.

Customer Review: I’m a diesel mechanic and a tool addict, I’ll admit. I was taught the C-clamp method by my Dad, and he learned that from his Dad, and so on.This tool is like a best friend that you can pay a debt for with pizza and beer, the best friend everyone needs to have.Let’s be real here, every single time you need to do anything on your vehicle at home, a tool magically disappears or is tied up somewhere else, and this is where the Lang Brake Caliper Press comes in. This tool is incredibly easy to use.Once the caliper is off the vehicle, a nice smooth ratcheting motion separates the two pads, some force is applied to one side, and the other pad uses force to depress the caliper piston.A useful note to some folks, when I got my package from Amazon, one of the pads was screwed in very tightly. One pad has normal threads and I’m pretty confident the opposite pad has reverse threads. They should both spin freely!Part two of useful notes – My fiancee’s 2018 Mazda 3 Sport has an electronic parking brake, or EPB. I did an online order through Napa for her pads and it didn’t mention anything about an EPB. Unfortunately the online tool suggested the wrong pads, and the gentleman at the counter never verified the correct parts. Only when I had her vehicle torn apart did I realize the rear brake pads were the wrong ones. I had to run into town again, and luckily they had the correct pads in stock and did not give me any grief about refunding the wrong pads.Also, due to her vehicle having an EPB, you need to put it in Maintenance / Service mode. These videos can be found on YT. Once taking the rear caliper off, the caliper piston will NOT depress if the vehicle is not in said mode.The ONLY caveat about this tool, is it did not fit the rear calipers on her 2018 Mazda 3. I did have to very carefully use a C-clamp for her rear brakes, Lang also does make a small brake caliper press for such an occasion.*Your vehicle may not need to be put in maintenance mode, but I might suggest researching prior to taking the brakes apart*Overall this tool is a 10/10, Quality USA made with a smooth ratcheting motion. I included those random details to hopefully prevent another person’s headache out there. This tool is wonderful for front brakes!

Customer Review: Made short work out of my four pot calipers. You may need the smaller version 277 to work with regular floating calipers.After years of struggling this tool makes life a lot easier for this style caliper. I have my standard tool for my smaller calipers.

Customer Review: I prefer this brake piston depressor over one that I have that you have to twist a handle sort of like a C clamp. I like that this applies and even pressure across the entire brake pad instead of the old one I was using it’s also much easier to simply use the rating mechanism opposed to having to hold the thing in place with one hand and spin the threads and on the clamp with the other. With this one, you can simply set it in your brake caliper and start cranking away, and it will evenly depress the whole thing. It’s also a nice addition that they actually include the hooks to hang the caliper. I’ve never had those and I’ve always just use some safety wire which isn’t a bad way to do it, but it gets a little annoying and I much prefer having dedicated tools for the job opposed to rigging something that isn’t really made for the job.I’m not a mechanic in a professional shop so I really can’t speak to whether this is the most durable tool or not. I’ve only used it for a single brake job that I was doing and for that it held up for that as it should. I am going to assume the most people buying tools off of Amazon are not professional mechanics so I feel confident and recommending this to you all. It’s a much easier to to use and when it comes to doing something like breaks the last thing you want is a tool that frustrates you.

The outer box was tattered and the inner bag was already ripped open, which isn’t a great first impression for a tool that has multiple loose pieces.Functionally, it mostly does what it’s supposed to, but there are some quality concerns. One of the plate magnets came loose immediately and stuck itself to the other plate, while the other three stayed seated like they should. Not a dealbreaker, but it doesn’t inspire confidence in long-term durability or quality control.There’s also no case included, which feels like a miss for something with multiple small parts. Between the loose plates, hangers, and now a wandering magnet, this seems like the kind of kit where pieces are going to disappear over time if you’re not careful.The ratcheting mechanism itself works and makes compressing caliper pistons easier than a basic C-clamp, especially when space is tight. The plates are thick and feel solid enough, and the tool spreads pressure evenly like advertised. Customer Review: OK, I’ve done about 4 sets of Brakes with this Tool now, and honestly love it, however the plates are very easy to lose and I wish the magnets were a good bit stronger/Locate pins longer as it can become pretty annoying having to pick them when they fall off other than that, it’s built well, very durable and works well. If you can grab this around $12-15 it’s a still.
