Customer Review: “Overall, this exhaust manifold catalytic converter is the OE replacement for honda that are built from Japan. Although, this part will fit for american built honda. The model was a civic. I am docking 1 star due to the fact that it does not DETAIL in the specs and or information listed that this part was original for Japan built Hondas. Why it affects usa built Hondas is for a couple reasons. The bottom of converter that connects to the inlet of resonator pipe, American built uses spring bolts and a donut flange gasket. This converter comes with both new spring bolts and standard bolt and fasteners. There are 2 heat shields, one for the top, and one for the middle on the converter built usa. The shield in the middle built usa will not fit on this part. It is too wide. I could not get the shield off the replaced converter anyways and just left it off. The top shield, that the O2sensor is installed through will fit. Just make sure to not strip those bolts when tightening. I was impressed to say the least for this part and it’s included hardware. But I did not use the gaskets due to they were either cheaper than the USA built gaskets which are metal or aluminum. Spray em down and reuse the usa parts. Clean up the top exhaust manifold valve and egr tube from the bottom of converter up to egr valve assembly. This is what the issue was fpr 2008 honda civic, that after replacing with this converter fixed the problem. This civic has 246k miles. I basically rebuilt it, besides replacing the engine and transmission itself. It now runs A1. If I had to suggest anything, please detail and state that this part japan built will not fit certain items built from usa in a more get your attention way. I know that this is not the owner or creator issue with this part, but when removing the original converter, it is connected to a bracket attached to engine to hold converter in place. Honda parts department does sell these parts, but it is special order. Each individual bracket, stay bracket, converter stay /bracket. Lol. Is sold individually. These parts sold through honda are not cheap. I snapped one of them that the original converter was attached too due to wear and tear, and how dirty and grimey the engine was which caused it to seize to the bolt itself. Overall performance, is subject to own personal experience and installation of converter. Cleaning the exhaust valves and egr tube with the egr valve itself is a must unless you want to replace this part again. For this honda civic, it was a game changers, very affordable, and I woukd recommend this part over original every time. Engine is 1.8l, 5 speed automatic, 4 door. Yes, it is a CVT. made the difference and fixed my issue.”
